Priyanka Thakur and Hirak Singh Kaushal winner of K.K.Grover and A.C. Bali Declamation Competition
31 students from different Departments and Colleges participated in the Competition
Chandigarh: Department of Hindi, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized the K.K. Grover and A.C.Bali Declamation Competition here today. A total of 31 students from various colleges and university departments participated in the event. Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Dept. of Hindi, informed that, Dr. Sanjay Pandey was the Chief Guest for the K.K. Grover contest and Professor Prashant Gautam was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Baijnath Prasad presided over the session. Dr. Singh also informed that Dr. Puranmal Gaur was the Chief Guest and Prof. S.K. Tomar was the Guest of Honour for the A.C. Bali Contest. Prof. Ashok Kumar presided over the session.
In the K.K. Grover Declamation Contest, Priyanka Thakur from PGGCG, Sector 11, bagged the first position; Bhoomika from UILS, PU stood second and Mayank from Dept of Hindi, took the third position. In the A.C.Bali Declamation Contest; Hirak Singh Kaushal from DAV College Sector-10 stood first, Ravitej Singh Brar from Dept of Urdu, stood second and Ashta Bothra from PGGCG Sector 11 stood third. The winners will be rewarded in the annual convocation of the Panjab University.
The K.K Grover and A.C. Bali Declamation Contest is an annual event conducted by Department of Hindi and provides an opportunity for students to showcase their oratory skills. It also provides a platform to voice their opinions and ideas on socially relevant and topical issues. This year students expressed their views on topics related to media, environment, Information Technology and Purpose of Literature.
The judges for today’s event were esteemed faculty members from Panjab University including Dr. Manish Sharma, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. Namita Gupta, Dr. Praveen Goyal, Dr. Harmail Singh and Dr. Bhavneet Bhatti. The program concluded with distribution of certificates and Dr. Gurmeet Singh presented the vote of thanks. University officials, faculty from Department of Hindi also attended the function.
