Jalandhar, April 22, 2015: KMV Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi has been awarded Excellence Award for Social Public Service by The Economic & Human Resource Development Association for outstanding achievements and remarkable social service. Her contribution to the cause of women education is colossal. She has also played a pivotal role in making underprivileged women empowered and educated. Her social work towards the upliftment of AIDS patients and AIDS orphans in North-East India is indeed commendable. She played a pivotal role in organizing ‘Weaver’s Guilds’ in Manipur for empowering women of the area.
Dr. Atima organized training programs for women to become paramedics in remote and border areas of India. She is constantly working with great dedication to skill and train women from underprivileged sections of society to make them successful entrepreneurs by mentoring them regularly. She has been instrumental in establishing Skill Development Centre in Kanya Maha Vidyalaya for Empowerment of women from disadvantaged families and has trained 1000 women in past 7 years in vocational skills, free of any cost. She is a luminous litterateur and has penned many books on literature, language.
Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi is also a creative writer par excellence. She is the Chief Editor of 2 International Journals also. A personality of international repute Dr Sharma has participated in conferences at Boston University (USA), Chatham University (USA), Beijing University (China), Hong Kong University, Birmingham University (U.K), Athens University (Greece), Columbia University (U.S.A), and Princeton University (U.S.A). Prof. Sharma had been selected by Harvard University (USA) to attend a prestigious programme-Management and Leadership in Higher Education in which only 20 heads of institution from across the globe are selected to participate. Her erudition, leadership qualities and wisdom has won her many awards and honours. Some being Achiever of the Millenium Award, Rajiv Gandhi Education Excellence Award, Best Principal Award, Bharat Excellence Award, Award of Excellence by AWWA, and Excellence in Education Award. Her charismatic personality, dynamism and intellectual pursuits and her exemplary vision will continue to make a valuable contribution to the field of women empowerment.
