Prof Harkishan Singh High Impact Research Publication Award function held 

Chandigarh November 28, 2023: On 95th birth anniversary of Padma Shri Prof Harkishan Singh, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University organised Prof Harkishan Singh High Impact Research Publication Award function at Golden Jubilee Hall, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The award is instituted by his daughter Dr Manjeet Kaurand other family members in the honour of late Prof Singh, who was working as Prof.  Emeritus at UIPS.

More than 100 guests including his family members, colleagues, faculty, staff, and students of department gathered to reflect on the legacy left behind by the remarkable soul. Post lunch, the session started with a welcome addressby Prof Anil Kumar, Chairperson, UIPS. He shared about the professional journey of late professor Singh and the laurels brought by him to not only the department but also the country in the field of pharmaceutical medicinal chemistry.

Prof Ranju Bansal, convener of the event, addressed the gathering and briefed about the High impact Research Publication Award. She mentioned that the interest generated from the corpus fund of Rs 10 lakhs given by Dr.Manjit Kaur and her family will be utilized toward the B Pharm topper and M. Pharm student with high impact research publication every year. The department conveyed thankfulness to the family for this initiative to motivate the young budding researchers in their scientific endeavours.

Prof Harsh Nayyar, Director R & D Cell, Panjab University graced the occasion and shared his memorable experiences with Padma Shree Prof. Harkishan Singh at UIPS.

On this day of remembrance, Dr Manjeet Kaur, daughter of Prof Harkishan Singh took the audience through the life journey of the heavenly soul. Further, many of his close relatives paid tribute to the legendary academician and shared their deep thoughts and connections with the missionary professor of UIPS. His students and then colleagues Prof V K Kapoor and  Prof T R Bhardwaj, former chairpersons of UIPS, Prof Saranjeet Singh, former Prof and Dean NIPER and Prof K N Pathak, former vice chancellor, Panjab University recollected fine memories of their long association with Prof Harkishan Singh portraying the journey of discovery of Chandonium Iodide, the only drug discovered by any Indian University till date, by Prof Harkishan Singh and his research group.

The Prof Harkishan Singh High Impact Research Publication Award for the year was presented to Khushboo Pathania and her supervisors Dr Sandip V. Pawar and Dr Sangeeta Pilkhwal Sah in the form of a Certificate of appreciation and price money. The event culminated with felicitations of the esteemed guests and vote of thanks by Prof Ranju Bansal who convened this event.
