Prof. Petrovsky delivers talk entitled “Intelligent Vaccine Design”
Chandigarh, April 16, 2019: Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) aims at enhancing the research ecosystem of India’s higher Educational Institutions by facilitating academic and research collaborations between Indian institutions and the best institutions in the world chosen from 28 selected nations to jointly solve problems of national and/or International relevance. Under this scheme, a project was granted to Dr.Deepak B.Salunke, Department of Chemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh and as the first PU SPARC Visiting Professor Dr. Nikolai Petrovsky visited Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Petrovsky visited the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University on April 12th 2019, and had discussions on establishment of an international vaccine discovery and development center at the Panjab University campus based on a proposal originally submitted by Dr. Deepak B. Salunke in September 2018. As a part of this SPARC visit at Panjab University, Prof. Petrovsky delivered a talk entitled “Intelligent Vaccine Design” at IIT Ropar and CSIR IMTECH, here today. Today, an international workshop was held at Department of Chemistry, Panjab University, on the theme of “Chemistry of Vaccine and Immunology” where Prof. Petrovsky (SPARC Visiting Professor), Prof. Javed Agrewala (IIT Ropar), Prof. Indu Verma, PGIMER Chandigarh, Prof. Prince Sharma, Panjab University, Prof. Sukhbir Kaur, Panjab University, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Hilleman Laboratories Pvt Ltd, New delhi, Prof. Sunil Arora, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr. Ankur Jindal, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr. A. Mukhopadhayay, IISER Mohali, Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, CSIR IMTECH, Chandigarh, Dr. Amarjit Singh Naura, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Dr. Deepak B. Salunke, Panjab University, Chandigarh delivered talks related to this topic. Prof. Raj Kumar inaugurated the workshop and talked about the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary fields and their fruitful benefits in the research area during the workshop. He emphasized the importance of young researchers and students actively engaging in such discussions to give them in-depth knowledge about the research. Prof. Raj Kumar suggested that research should be beneficial to society and should be targeted to solve major social problems. During this two week visit of Prof. Petrovsky to PU, he will visit several CRIKC (Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster) Institutes along with a visit to Central Research Institute (CRI), Kasauli.
