Progressive Farmers take pledge not to burn paddy stubble to prevent environmental pollution
Further intensifying Campaign against stubble burning, the district administration Ludhiana led by Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik has started oath taking ceremonies in villages to galvanize farmers against this environmental hazard.
Ludhiana, November 8, 2023: Further intensifying Campaign against stubble burning, the district administration Ludhiana led by Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik has started oath taking ceremonies in villages to galvanize farmers against this environmental hazard.
Officials conducted such ceremonies in different villages of the District, wherein a large number of progressive farmers took pledge not to set their fields on fire. They also pledged that they will reach out other farmers with the appeal to keep from stubble burning as it was causing serious health and environmental challenges.
Village Panchayats also participated in the event and vowed to pass resolutions against this practice to further prevent environmental depletion. The Panchayats announced that resolutions will ne passed at panchayat level against stubble burning so that this trend of farm fires could be discouraged.
Meanwhile, the officials also apprised the farmers that adequate numbers of machinery was already provided to cooperative societies to manage crop residue properly without burning it. The farmers were urged to adopt these technices to keep environment from ill-effects of stubble burning, which was also effecting soil fertility badly.
