Chandigarh, October 14, 2015: Progressive Punjab Investor Summit 2015 is writing a new chapter to promote entrepreneurship amongst Startup Savvy Youths by providing them an international platform to present their innovative ideas before the Icons of Industry so that these could fructify into futuristic ground breaking venture of world.
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal has initiated this noble Endeavour to provide a forum to our enterprising budding youth as he feels that start savvy youth and our industrial icons can jointly lay the firm foundation of ‘Make In India’ dream.
It is for the first time that ‘Progressive Punjab Investor Summit-2015’ is joining hands with Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) that has been constituted to promote brain storming amongst start up savvy culture in Punjab and the summit would provide a platform to enterprising youth.
Disclosing this, an official spokesperson said that Startup Weekend Punjab will be a 54 hours new business ideas marathon that will be conducted at Entrepreneurship Development Centre, IT park Chandigarh from 23rd-25th October. The final business idea would be showcased in front of eminent guests from all over the country and prominent jury from the Industry/Finance and Academic backgrounds at ISB, Mohali on 29th October at 10 AM.
Divulging more, the spokesperson said that this unique initiative by Invest Punjab and SACC would focus on showcasing the hidden potential of the youth, primarily from Punjab and North, as they put forward their capabilities to innovate. Such a platform would give a path breaking direction to the youth to create their own sustainable enterprise/venture in any field whether it is Design/IT/Finance/Hospitality/Agriculture/Energy/Services. The winners at this enterprise would be provided with free working space and bandwidth for 6 months up to 1 year by SACC, STPI and Progressive Punjab. Besides, certificates to all the participants would be awarded on 29th October, 2015. Google and Amazon being the partners of Startup Weekend Globally, would bestow the web/tech support prizes for the participants.
The spokesperson further elaborated that SACC, a community and official regional partner of Startup Weekend and Techstars, has conducted 5 Startup Weekends in Punjab and North since July, 2014. The Startup Weekends conducted at Chandigarh, Landran, Tangori, Dehradun, Startup Weekend for women at Mohali have been instrumental in guiding over 1000 youth on entrepreneurship. According to the spokesperson, Startup Weekend is a world renowned 54 hours program for startups, held over 3 days on the weekend, providing guidance and technical know-how to any kind of professionals, students/youngsters towards new business formation and entrepreneurship. The Startup Weekend has created more than 15000 entrepreneurs world over during the last 10 years.
