FOR PROMOTING CLEANLINESS, LUDHIANA MC CELEBRATES “TEEYAN DE MELE” IN NEHRU ROSE GARDEN TODAY
Ludhiana, August 24, 2018: For promoting cleanliness in the city, the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana organised “Teeyan De Mele” under the Swachh Bharat Mission in Nehru Rose Garden, here today. Member of Parliament Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu was the chief guest on the occasion and he attended the function along with his family members. Today’s function was attended by a large number of city residents, where Punjabi Folk singers Gurmeet Bawa, Pali Detwalia and others enthralled the audiences with their songs. Several food stalls of traditional Punjabi food were also set up on the occasion, that were relished by the audience. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner of Police Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ludhiana KP Brar, Senior IAS officer Amrit Kaur Gill, ADC Jagraon Neeru Katyal, Councillor Mamta Ashu, several councillors, besides others. While addressing the gathering, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said that such functions prove helpful in promoting our rich punjabi culture and heritage amongst our young generation. He said that the Congress-led Punjab government is also planning to organise such functions in the near future. He appealed to the city residents to contribute in maintaining cleanliness in the city along with their families so that all of us can lead a healthy lifestyle. Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister, Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that the Punjab government is committed for promoting our rich culture and heritage. He appealed to the city residents to keep their surroundings clean and green. He said that Ludhiana can not turn “Smart” in real terms till the time when city residents help the MC in maintaining cleanliness smartly. Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu said that such functions would be organised in other parks of the city as well so that our youth can be educated about our rich culture and heritage. He urged the city residents to maintain cleanliness and stop the use of polythene bags. He thanked everyone who attended the function.
