Promoting Sustainability: Vardhman Group donates 30 benches to PAU

Ludhiana, June 14, 2023: In a gesture of goodwill, Vardhman Group, a prominent textile manufacturer in India, provided the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana with a generous gift of 30 iron benches. This act of philanthropy comes as an endorsement of PAU's 'Clean and Green Campus Drive,' an endeavor aimed at cultivating a sustainable and eco-friendly environment within the university premises. Mr. Amit Dhawan, the Senior Manager of Vardhman Group's Administration, attended the occasion, accompanied by his team members, to present the benches to Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, the Vice-Chancellor of PAU.

During the interaction, Dhawan cited the importance of championing green initiatives and standing beside educational institutions in their pursuit of fostering a more sustainable world. He expressed that installing benches for morning strollers and visitors was a means of repaying society and demonstrating support for institutions like PAU, which have selflessly served humanity. Furthermore, Mr. Dhawan reiterated Vardhman Group's commitment to social welfare, seamlessly integrating economic, environmental, and social objectives into their operations and growth. He also assured Dr. Gosal that the group was actively working towards providing portable toilets, rainwater harvesting structures, and other essential resources to bolster PAU's 'Clean and Green Campus Drive.'

In response to Vardhman Group's benevolent act, Dr. S.S. Gosal conveyed his appreciation, acknowledging that the newly donated benches would not only provide comfortable seating arrangements but also elevate the overall campus experience. Simultaneously, they would encourage and uphold a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment. The 'Clean and Green Campus Drive' espouses core principles of reducing carbon emissions, conserving water and energy, and advocating for the utilization of renewable resources. Hailing Vardhman Group's contribution as a noteworthy stride in bolstering sustainable initiatives, he gave credit to them for an earlier donation of 20 benches and 20 barricades.

Dr. Rishi Indra Singh Gill, PAU Estate Officer, emphasized that the donation of benches to PAU indicated an unequivocal commitment to social responsibility, a reflection of Vardhman Group's deeply ingrained values. In attendance were Dr. Manav Indra Singh Gill, Registrar, Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Director of Students' Welfare, Dr. Mohit Gupta, Associate of Comptroller, and Dr. Vishal Bector, Associate Director of Institutional Relations.
