Promotion of Mera Bill App During Mega PTM Day Across Schools in Ludhiana.

On the directions of Worthy Financial Commissioner, Taxation, Government of Punjab, Department of Excise & Taxation, Krishan Kumar, and in continuation of the ongoing efforts to promote transparency and responsible consumer practices, the Mera Bill App was actively promoted in schools across Ludhiana District during the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) held today.

Ludhiana, October 22, 2024: On the directions of Worthy Financial Commissioner, Taxation, Government of Punjab, Department of Excise & Taxation, Krishan Kumar, and in continuation of the ongoing efforts to promote transparency and responsible consumer practices, the Mera Bill App was actively promoted in schools across Ludhiana District during the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) held today. This initiative, spearheaded by the Education Department in collaboration with the State GST Department, aimed to educate students and parents about the importance of demanding bills for every purchase and the benefits of using the Mera Bill App.

In a one such event at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Cemetery Road, Ludhiana, it was attended by a large number of parents and students. A team from the GST Department, including Ms. Shinee Singh, Assistant Commissioner State Taxes, Hardeep Singh Ahuja, Senior Inspector along with other officers of the department briefed the attendees on how to use the Mera Bill App. The app allows users to upload bills and stand a chance to win exciting rewards under the state’s "Bill Liyao, Inaam Pao" scheme. On the same lines some other schools of Ludhiana were also visited upon by H S Dimple, Sourav Singla and Avtar Singh all State Tax Officers of the State GST Department to promote the Mera Bill App.

The app is part of the government’s broader mission to foster a culture of transparency in everyday transactions and enhance tax compliance. Ms. Shinee Singh, ACST emphasized the role of citizens in strengthening the tax system and how simple acts like asking for a bill contribute to the state's progress.

Live demonstrations were provided by Sh. Hardeep Singh Ahuja to guide parents and students on downloading and using the Mera Bill App. Teachers encouraged families to actively participate in the initiative, highlighting the potential rewards and benefits, while also imparting an important lesson on civic responsibility to students.

The Mega PTM provided a unique platform to discuss both the academic progress and community welfare, as the app and its benefits were explained in detail. 

Charanjeet Kaur Ahuja, School Principal, thanked the GST Authorities and expressed her appreciation for the initiative towards tax augmentation of the State.
