PROPOSAL: Karnataka Bank proposes to conduct more exporters’ meets: P. Jayarama Bhat

Ludhiana, October 20, 2012: An exporters’ meet on banking and finance was organised jointly by Karnataka Bank Ltd, Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) and Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), India here this evening.

The event was inaugurated by the bank’s managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) P. Jayarama Bhat.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhat said in order to promote exports, Karnataka Bank proposed to conduct such meets at various places across the country in association with FIEO during the current financial year. He added the today’s meet was third in the series of such meetings. He revealed that the first meet was held at Mangalore and the second meet was held at Ahmedabad.

He hoped that exporters in and around Ludhiana would get benefitted with the today event.

Further, Bhat said Karnataka Bank, which recorded its highest ever half yearly net profit of Rs. 200.62 crores for the half year ended September 30 this year had achieved a total business turnover of Rs. 57,364 crores.

Bhat said Karnataka Bank had earmarked additional Rs. 1,100 crores for export credit disbursement during 2012-13. He revealed that the bank had a network of 510 branches and 409 ATMs spread across 20 states and 2 UTs across the country.

Among others, TS Ahluwalia, Managing Committee Member, FIEO, Darshan Singh, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, Mahesh Khanna, General Manager, DIC, Ludhiana, Neeraj Dhanda, Vice Chairperson, EEPC India and Manjunath Hebbar, chief Manager, Karnataka Bank Ltd, Ludhiana were present.

Exporters, including Rajneesh Ahuja, asked questions from Bhat and others.
