Vehicular traffic gets interrupted for about 2 hrs

Ludhiana, October 8, 2012: A large number of railway employees under the banner of the Northern Railway Men’s Union, Ludhiana led by the Divisional Secretary Daljeet Singh staged a massive protest against allowing 49 per cent FDI in pension.

Vehicular traffic was interrupted for about two hours on the busy Jagraon Bridge. After a few minutes of the protest, the vehicular traffic was diverted to other sides. Complete traffic jam was witnessed on this particular bridge and the adjoining roads. 

Addressing the protestors, Daljeet Singh strongly condemned the Pension Fund Regulatory Development Authority Bill. He termed it against the employees. He also condemned allowing FDI in retail sector across the country. He asserted that there was need to create a mass movement against FDI in retail.

He also expressed concern over hike in diesel and LPG.

Protestors were shouting slogans in favour of their demands and against 49 per cent FDI in pension sector.
