Hoshiarpur: Punjab State Forest Development Corporation Limited (PSFDCL) vice chairperson Reena Jaitley paid surprise visit to 25-acres herbal nursery at Village Bhatoli in block Talwara under Hoshiarpur district.
The nursery is being maintained by PSFDCL. She was accompanied among others by District Forest Officer Atul Mahajan, Forest Ranjer Paramjit Singh, Forest Guard Om Dutt, Vivek Thakur and BJP leaders.
Reena inspected the nursery. She told that it was the only herbal nursery in Punjab and they were trying their best to expand the area of plantation in near future.
She further told that the department officers were trying to prepare new saplings of herbal plants. She said this project proved successful due to friendly climate and better quality of sand.
She told that PSFDCL under the guidance Minister for Forests, Punjab Bhagat Chuni Lal, more saplings, would be planted in a big way in the near future.
She said `Van Mahautsav’ would be celebrated like a festival this year to encourage plantation drive.
In the year 2013, 1110 plants of Sandal, 1110 plants of Amla were planted in the nursery. Apart from this, Giloe, Choti Elachi, Shikaki plants have also been planted in the nursery. / (Rajat Kumar, Jalandhar)
