PTU declares result of first round of counseling of B. Tech

- Seats allotted to 7788 students, choice filling was done by 8667 students

- 10405 students deposited fee for counseling, result declared two days before the scheduled date of 16 July

- Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana is the first choice of students amongst PTU affiliated colleges

- First seat allotted to Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar amongst all the Universities

- Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana is also the top choice for other state 15% reserved seats

- Computer Science and Engineering is the first choice of students of all the categories, Mechanical Engineering is the second choice

Kapurthala, July 14, 2013: Punjab Technical University (PTU) declared the result of first round of joint counseling of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) on Sunday. The University has declared this result two days before the scheduled date of 16 July 2013. As per the data released by the admission cell of the university, joint counseling was held for the engineering seats of four universities, i.e., Guru Nanak Dev University Sri Amritsar Sahib, Punjabi University Patiala, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana and the host Punjab Technical University Jalandhar-Kapurthala. Counseling fee was deposited by 10405 students, choice filling was done by 8667 students and the seats are allotted to 7788 students. 

Amongst the PTU affiliated colleges, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana was the first choice of the students and first seat was allotted to Guru Nanak Dev University in overall category. In 15% reserved category of students from other states, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College remained the top choice of students.  

As per the figures of choice filling, more students are interested in computer science and engineering stream. 2025 seats are allotted in the field of computer science and 1576 seats are allotted in the field of mechanical engineering. 1488 seats are allotted in the field of electronics and communication. 

Dean academics and Chief Coordinator admissions PTU Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu told that the result of first round of counseling has been declared two days before the scheduled time and it will give the students more time to take admissions against the seats allotted to them without any chaos. 

Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajneesh Arora congratulated the admission cell for declaring the result before time. Dr Arora also said that students are changing their preferences of subject selection as per the need of the industry. He said that students will prefer to take admissions in only those institutions which will provide them the best of infrastructure and placement.
