PU Faculty to attend World Congress in Melbourne
Dr Namita Gupta, Professor in the Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University has been invited to attend XX World Congress of Sociology organized by International Sociological Association on the theme “Resurgent Authoritarianism: Sociology of New Entanglements of Religions, Politics, and Economies” in Melbourne, Australia from June 25 to July 1, 2023.
Chandigarh, June 16, 2023: Dr Namita Gupta, Professor in the Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University has been invited to attend XX World Congress of Sociology organized by International Sociological Association on the theme “Resurgent Authoritarianism: Sociology of New Entanglements of Religions, Politics, and Economies” in Melbourne, Australia from June 25 to July 1, 2023.
The International Sociological Association is a premier organization founded in 1949 under the auspices of UNESCO. Its members come from 126 countries. More than 5000 social scientists from the various universities of the world assemble for the congress to deliberate upon the theme.
Professor Gupta is the Vice President of the Thematic Group-03 on Human Rights and Global Justice in the Association since 2020 and is currently the Acting President of the Thematic Group.
Dr Gupta will present a research paper titled “State Led Housing for Poor in Rural India: A Critical Evaluation of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin”. Besides this, she will participate in various business meetings in the Association.
