PU Girls Hostel -5 Organises Awareness Session on Gynecological Disorders
In an effort to promote women’s health and well-being, an awareness session on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD), and Cervical Cancer was organised at Savitribai Phule Hall, Panjab University. The session was aimed to educate participants on early detection, prevention, and management of these prevalent health issues affecting women.

Chandigarh, March 4, 2025: In an effort to promote women’s health and well-being, an awareness session on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD), and Cervical Cancer was organised at Savitribai Phule Hall, Panjab University. The session was aimed to educate participants on early detection, prevention, and management of these prevalent health issues affecting women.
The eminent speaker was Dr. Paramjeet Kaur Ghuman, Director, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali, who provided in-depth insights into the symptoms, causes, and treatment options for PCOS and PCOD which are the common hormonal disorders affecting women’s reproductive health. She emphasised the role of lifestyle modifications, balanced nutrition, and medical interventions in managing these conditions effectively. Dr. Ghuman highlighted the importance of HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination and routine screenings in preventing the disease. She urged women to undergo regular Pap smear tests and adopt preventive healthcare measures to lower the risk of cervical cancer. She emphasised the importance of raising awareness on women’s health issues and ensuring access to preventive healthcare for students, staff and faculty alike.
The session was graced by Prof. Simrat Kahlon, Dean Student Welfare (W), Wardens and Faculty members of Panjab University. The hosts of the event, Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Warden, GH5 and Dr Sarvnarinder Kaur, Warden GH7, appreciated the initiative by the DSW office facilitated by Torque Pharmaceuticals, in highlighting Panjab University’s commitment to holistic well-being and sending across a strong message on the importance of self-care, early medical intervention, and breaking the stigma surrounding women’s health issues.
The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and faculty, who engaged in discussions and myth-busting exercises related to reproductive and hormonal health.
