The Panjab University today hosted a thought-provoking event on the theme ‘Be the Voice of Nation’ under the prestigious banner of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament- 2025. It is an initiative pioneered by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Chandigarh, March 8, 2025: The Panjab University today hosted a thought-provoking event on the theme ‘Be the Voice of Nation’ under the prestigious banner of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament- 2025. It is an initiative pioneered by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. 

As many as 95 students participated in the programme, organised by NSS Panjab University, in collaboration with Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh under the guidance of Dr. Parveen Goyal, NSS, Programme Coordinator, PU, Dr Sonia Sharma, NSS, Programme officer, PU and Dr. Minakshi Rana, NSS, Programme officer, MCM DAV. The event was graced by Prof. Sonal Chawla and Prof.Mamta Juneja as the chief guest and guest of Honour respectively. The event organised on International Women's Day served as a unique platform to promote women-led discourse and encourage active political awareness and participation among young women, nurturing them as future leaders and change makers. 

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from female students across various colleges, each representing a different state of India, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh. The participants also drew inspiration from prominent political leaders and weaved their ideologies, reforms, and leadership journeys into their speeches. 

Each participant selected a significant achievement, policy intervention, or pressing social issue related to women empowerment within their chosen state, presenting their research and opinions within a time frame of three minutes. Many participants further enriched the experience by dressing in the traditional attire of the respective states, offering both a cultural and intellectual celebration of India's diversity.

The Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament aims to foster a culture of democratic dialogue among youth by encouraging them to engage deeply with policy matters, governance structures, and the socio-political landscape of the country. Through this initiative, students gained first-hand exposure to the functioning of parliamentary discourse, helping them develop critical leadership skills, such as public speaking, policy analysis, research aptitude, and political  politically aware, and leadership-oriented youth, in alignment with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat.
