PU Sanskrit Department celebrates Teachers’ Day
Panjab University’s Sanskrit department celebrated teachers’ day on the occasion of the great educationist and independent India’s second president Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday. Teachers, research scholars and students of the department participated in the event.
Chandigarh, September 5, 2023: Panjab University’s Sanskrit department celebrated teachers’ day on the occasion of the great educationist and independent India’s second president Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday. Teachers, research scholars and students of the department participated in the event.
Academic incharge of the department Prof. V. K. Alankar, addressed the participants and said, “always strive to become good students, because a good student alone becomes a good teacher.” Prof. also recalled how the depiction of teachers in Indian movies changed after Dr. Radhakrishnan became the president of India. “Earlier, the financial condition of teachers was not upto the mark and it is only a later development that teachers have started to earn good salaries,” he added. Prof. concluded his speech by saying that teachers always desire to benefit their students in any manner possible.
Teachers of the department Dr. Vikram, Dr. Shivaji Pandey, Dr. Satyan Sharma and Vijay Bharadwaj spoke to the audience on the various aspects of teaching, teachers and students.
In students, Smriti and Mamta presented speeches, while Priyanka, Prachi, Madhvi, Inder Jeet, Poonam, Manoj and Vaishno recited poems. Madhvi, Divyam, Poonam, Pradeep, Shiwani, Yashashree, Mamta and Priyanka presented a group song.
The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Vijay Bharadwaj.
Meanwhile, PU-ISSER celebrated Teacher's Day with great fervour and excitement. The event included a Hindi _Kavita_ recital, song and dance performances. The students expressed gratitude, sharing their experiences. The Department Coordinator, Professor Seema Vinayak also shared valuable insights and experiences calling it _"a very special day".
