PU Syndicate agrees to declare Nov 11, 2019 as public holiday in PU campus and its affiliated colleges in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, November 9, 2019: Panjab University (PU) Syndicate in its meeting today took up all the agenda items. The Syndicate agreed to declare November 11, 2019 as public holiday in PU campus and its affiliated colleges in Chandigarh in wake of ongoing 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji. Also, on the occasion, the Syndicate approved of a golden chance to the students for B.A. exam improvement. The Syndicate principally approved the recommendation of the committee regarding starting of new course of MBA(Capital Markets) at University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS) from the session 2020-21. However, the committee will be constituted to look into all aspects related to viability, feasibility and desirability. The Syndicate principally allowed the recognition of Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), DRDO Chandigarh as a Research Centre for Panjab University for pursuing research work leading to Ph.D. Degree of PU in the subjects of Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology, Zoology and University of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS). However, other modalities will be looked into by a committee with regard to uniformity in consonance with UGC Guidelines for Ph.D. The Syndicate agreed for grant of permanent affiliation to M.M.D.A.V. College, Giddarbaha for M.A. History. Regarding affiliation to Institute of Management C/o D.A.V. College. Sector-10, Chandigarh, the Syndicate decided that the Institute is to fulfil the conditions for compliance for the session 2018-19. It was further resolved that no affiliation for the session 2019-20 be granted to the D.A.V. Institute of Management.
