PU Value-Added online Course on “Inculcating Universal Human Values (UHV) for “Excellence-in-Totality”: From Theory to Practice”

Chandigarh, August 24, 2022: Panjab University with its nine departments, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS); Department of Education; University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS); Department of Environment Studies (DES); Department of Microbial Biotechnology; University Institute of Fashion Technology (UIFT) & Vocational Education ; Department of Geography and Department of Geology conducted value-added 30 hrs course from 17th to 23rd Aug 2022 in collaboration with Chandigarh chapter of Heartfulness Education Trust (HET). The course,first of its kind, has multiple meritorious features, while taking the call of NEP 2020 in building the eco-system for campus excellence.
The uniqueness and novelty of the course lie in its practical approach while giving a deep understanding of its logical and scientific principles. It was all about-adopting the age-old, ancient philosophical wisdom of yoga & meditation to impart simple but very effective body-mind relaxation & training technique. The one hour practice session each in the early morning (6am) and evening (6pm) were conducted by the expert certified heartfulness meditational trainers. The online two hrs duration classroom theoretical lectures (09 AM to 11 AM) eminent experts were taken from distant places as well as from tri-city of Chandigarh. Each session will have an additional faculty to support as a moderator which made the sessions very interactive, knowledgeable and enjoyable. The selection of topics & titles were also very catchy which include sessions on theme title - Themes like Power of Thought –Prof Seema Baba from Thapar Patiala, Power of Pause –Rikita from Ranchi, Live in Present –Manjula from Amritsar, Be an explorer “ –Prof O P Katare from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
In the inaugural session, each chairpersons of nine PU institutes spoke about the urgent need for such youth-centric programme which is structured well for practical mental-wellness activities so as to impart the desired life skills , develop the good habits, attitude and character among them. Interestingly each session had its own class and different approaches so as not to make it a repetitive burden on the learners.
Most of the sessions were attended by all chairpersons namely, Prof Indu Pal Kaur (UIPS), Dr. Kirandeep Singh (Deptt. of Education), Prof Monika Aggarwal (UIAMS), Prof Suman Mor ( DES), Prof Rachna Singh (Microbial Biotechnology),
Dr. Anu H. Gupta (UIFT), Prof Gaurav Kalotra (Geography), Prof Ashu Khosla ( Geology) and other senior professors ,Prof Upasana who took keen interest and made its quality par excellence.
The programme ended on Tuesday 23rd August with a valedictory session which participating and faculty both shared their enriching & enlightening experiences. They also demanded the continuance of the practice session, post-course-workshop event.
