PU VC lays stress on confidence building measures at chairpersons meet

Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University chaired the second
round of online meeting of the 38 Chairpersons, Directors and
Coordinators of different departments, institutes and centres
including regional centres of PU at Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Muktsar and
Kauni besides Prof. R.K. Singla, Dean Research, here today.
PU VC had one to one interaction with the heads to know about the
online academic activities going on and also enquired about the
syllabus covered till now.
PU VC appreciated the concerted efforts of the teaching faternity of
the varsity towards promoting the academic interests of the students.
Prof. Raj Kumar urged all to ensure connecting of the faculty with
the students through possible online options for confidence building
during testing times. Further, he assured that after lockdown special
doubt clearing sessions and pratical classes will be held besides
requisite theory classes in the best interest of the PU students.
Prof. Kumar also shared that already six project proposals on COVID-19
are submitted to different ministeries of the Government and other six
are in pipeline. He further asked the Chairpersons to motivate the
other members of the teaching faternity to comeup with research
project proposals for the cause of humanity at large.
Later, Dr. Vishal Sharma gave a lucid presentation on how to make use
of Zoom and WebEx platforms for online teaching in the online meeting
itself.

Chandigarh:
Prof Ravinder Kaur, Department of Geography, Panjab University,
Chandigarh has got the grant of Rs. 10 lac for two years for her
project on making ‘Chandigarh Child Friendly: Lessons from Canada’ to
work in collaboration with Dr. Cherry Enns, University of the Fraser
Valley, BC, Canada. This two year collaborative research project grant
is supported by funds from Ministry of Human Resources Development,
Department of Higher Education, Govt. of India. The collaborative
grant is with Shashtri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI), New Delhi. The
grant payment will be made in three installments with Rs. 5 lakh ear
marked for the first year (2019-2020).
Panjab University Health Centre has received 25 PPE kits from Major
Deepak Choudhary, Advisor, External Affairs, Kandhari Beverages(P)
Ltd., Chandigarh. Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, expressed his
gratitude for the timely help and good gesture of Major Deepak. He
also appreciated the efforts of Prof. Seema Vinayak, Chairperson,
Department of Psychology for her efforts and being instrumental in
getting the same for University.
