Ludhiana, November 2, 2019: Public Health Awareness Programme was organized today by College of Nursing, DMCH in a local Gurudwara at Village Malakpur.
The camp was organized to make people aware of basic hygiene facilities and preventive measures to be adopted for leading a healthy lifestyle.
Principal College of Nursing Mrs Triza Jiwan Professor along with Mrs.Nidhi Sagar Vice-Principal, Head of Community Health Nursing Department Professor Mrs.Sandeep Kaur, Mr.Baljinder Singh (Sarpanch Malakpur), Mr.Gurjeet Singh, Senior Manager of Corporate Cell DMCH formally inaugurated the camp. In his address, Mrs Triza Jiwan said DMCH under the guidance of Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta has been regularly conducting such awareness camp for the residents of city and surrounding villages.
In his address, Secretary Shri Prem Kumar Gupta Gupta said that DMCH is always committed in providing affordable healthcare to the people of the region. The hospital has in-house pharmacy, which gives medicines to patients at much cheaper prices. Mr Gupta also said that DMCH has been regularly conducting major health awareness days for raising awareness among people to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Mr Gurjeet Singh, Senior Manager, Corporate Cell informed that around 200 patients were examined for for Blood Pressure, RBS, Hemoglobin, Visual acuity and BMI during the camp by the doctors from the Departments of Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynae. Counselling was also done by the faculty and students of College of Nursing regarding prevention of various diseases including diabetes, cancer, hypertension and weight management.
A role play was conducted by students of B. Sc (N) 4th year on Diabetes Mellitus for audience present in camp to make them aware regarding the disease. The poster presentation was also made in local language by the students of College of Nursing to highlight about prevention of various diseases including Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, and Obesity etc.
