Chandigarh, November 7, 2013: The Punjab Government has constituted Punjab Higher Education Council under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal for Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, National Higher Education Mission.
According to the spokesman of higher education department, Sikander Singh Maluka Higher Education and Language minister Punjab will be the Vice-Chairman and Dr. Roshan Sunkaria IAS Principal Secretary, Higher Education and Language Punjab would be the Chief Executive Officer.
He further said the seven nominated members from the field of Art, Science & Technology, Culture, Civil Society and Industry including Eminent Doctor Dr. K.K. Talwar Advisor to Govt. of Punjab Health & Medical Education, Eminent Agriculture Scientist Dr.G.S.Kalkat, Chairman Punjab State Farmers Commission, Eminent Academician Ch. Chander Mohan, Leading Industrialists Sh.Paul Oswall, Chairman-cum-MD, Vardhman Group, Rajinder Gupta Chairman Trident Group Sanghera, Social Activist Neena Tiwana, Chairman Harpal Tiwana Foundation and Eminent Scholars Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubhan, S.G.P.C, Director ,Education.
He further said that seven persons including Arun Grover, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) Punjab University Chandigarh, Dr. Jaspal Singh, V.C Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Ajaib Singh, V. C. Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr. S. S. Gill, V. C. Baba Farid Medical University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Rajnish Arora, V. C. Punjab Technical University Jalandhar, State Project Director, RUSA and special invitee Anjali Bhawra, Principal Secretary Punjab would be the ex-officio-members of this council.
