Punjab CM Capt Amarinder skirts all major pre-poll promises while listing achievements of four year of Congress government: Dushyant Gautam
Says Amarinder’s claims as nothing but a bundle of lies
Chandigarh: Launching scathing attack on the Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh for “cleverly skirting” all the major pre-poll monetary promises, while listing achievements of his four-year government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary and In-Charge Punjab Affairs Dushyant Gautam termed Amarinder’s claims as nothing but a “bundle of lies” to befool the people of Punjab. While addressing the concluding session of two-day State executive meet of BJP Punjab, Gautam strongly rebutted the claims made by Capt. Amarinder in his official press releases issued on 18th March.
Gautam questioned Capt. Amarinder 'as to why he chose to remain “mum” on several key monetary pre-poll promises made to farmers, which remains unfulfilled till date'. Taking a strong exception to Punjab CM’s remarks that ‘How many more farmers do you want to kill, while criticizing the three Farm Laws of the Center’, Gautam said, “It is ironical that such politically motivated statements are coming from the mouth of a man, who is responsible for 1232 farmer suicides in Punjab, which many of deceased farmers have clearly mentioned in their suicide notes.” Gautam also said that what is more shameful is that for his vested political interests; Capt. Amarinder supported and instigated the farmer’s agitation, thereby bringing the business in Punjab to almost standstill.
Reacting to the claims made by Capt Amarinder that he had never said he will eliminate the drugs mafia completely, Gautam said that Congress Election Manifesto for 2017 Assembly Elections clearly mentions, “The Congress Govt will wipe out the drug trade within a month (4 hafte) of its assuming office.”
Further slamming Capt. Amarinder for “ignoring” the SCs, Gautam said that some of the main promises made to SCs to which Capt. Amarinder government has completely turned ‘blind eye’ includes disbursal of Post-Matric Scholarship on time, clearing existing backlog in government jobs in time bound manner, housing for homeless SCs and employment at least for one member of each family.
Gautam further said that Capt. Amarinder cleverly tried to divert the attention to hide his failure by taking refuge of Covid for the financial constraints, notwithstanding the fact that Covid pandemic came in the fourth year of the Congress regime. “What Capt. Amarinder was doing for full three years”, he questioned.
Pointing out that gangster Lakha Sidhana, wanted by Delhi Police for insulting tri-colour, attended a rally in Punjab's Mehraj village in Bathinda but was not arrested by the Punjab police, Gautam said, “But ironically, Capt. Amarinder on the other hand is beating his own drums of excellent law and order situation in the state under his rule.”
On the Punjab CM remarks that he was among the first to oppose Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Gautam said that by questioning the credibility of EVMs, even after winning the 2017 Assembly Polls, 2019 Parliament Polls in Punjab, recent Local Bodies Elections (all conducted via EVM), it makes it amply clear that Capt. Amarinder is “questioning” his own party’s victory in these elections and has now also started looking for excuses, foreseeing Congress party’s ‘imminent defeat’ in the coming 2022 Assembly polls.
