Punjab CM handed over cheque of Rs. 95 Lakh to family members of Sepoy Kuldeep Singh
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today handed over a cheque of Rs. 95 Lakh to the family members of the Sepoy Kuldeep Singh of Village Lohke Kalan in Zira sub-division who had died on duty at Indo-China border on July 10.
Ferozepur, July 22, 2022: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today handed over a cheque of Rs. 95 Lakh to the family members of the Sepoy Kuldeep Singh of Village Lohke Kalan in Zira sub-division who had died on duty at Indo-China border on July 10. Earlier on July 19, Mann was expected to attend the bhog of Sepoy Kuldeep but due to some technical issue in the chopper, he could not attend.
“Kuldeep Singh from 21 Sikh regiment of Indian Army had made the supreme sacrifice of his life while defending the borders of the country and Punjab government salutes this brave heart” said the Chief Minister while offering condolences to the family members at village Lohke Kalan.
The Chief Minister said that his government is always at hand to help and support the family. He said that the countrymen will always remain indebted to Kuldeep Singh, who attained martyrdom to safeguard the security and sovereignty of the country. Paying tributes to Sepoy Kuldeep Singh, Mann said that he brought glory to the country and especially to Punjab through his exemplary courage and professional commitment.
“The family of this brave son of Punjab must feel proud and honoured as Kuldeep attained martyrdom rather dying an ordinary death. I assure the grieved family members that the state government was duty bound to help them in this hour of crisis and every step will be taken to extend a helping hand to them. I understand it’s a collosal loss but instead of grieving his demise, we must feel proud as he has laid down his life for a greater cause", added Bhagwant Mann.
“ I am also overwhelmed to know that more than 20 youth belonging to this village are presently serving the country in Indian Army. I hope this financial assistance will help the family members and study of the kid”, said Mann.
“Before the elections, we had made the promise that if any person belonging to Punjab attain martyrdom, we will give financial assistance of Rs. One crore and today we have fulfilled our promise”, the CM further added.
Notably, Cabinet Minister Fauja Singh Sarari had handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 Lakh to the family members on July 19.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Fauja Singh alongwith senior officials including Deputy Commissioner Amrit Singh, SSP Charanjit Singh, Zira MLA Naresh Kataria, Ferozepur (Urban) MLA Ranbir Bhullar, Ferozepur (Rural) MLA Rajnish Dahiya and others were present.
