Punjab CM to launch drive against single use plastic from August 5 in Dhuri
District level function to be held at Government College for Girls, Bharat Nagar Chowk
Ludhiana, August 4, 2022: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will virtually address the people of the state after launching a campaign against single use plastic in Dhuri on August 5.
The district level event will be held at Government College for Girls, Bharat Nagar Chowk from 11.15 am to 12.00 am
Reviewing the preparations of the function, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik deputed officials from different departments to ensure smooth holding of the event. She said that Municipal Corporation Ludhiana had been sensitizing the people against 19 types of single use plastic including straws, earbuds, cutlery, packaging films, plastic sticks for balloons, candy and ince cream, plastic cups, plates, decorative polystyrene, PVC banner and others banned.
Malik said that the administration would also distribute jute bags among the people on the occasion. She said that it was the need of the hour to discard single use plastic completely for environment conservation. She said that single use plastics cause choking of drainage, ingestion by stray animals, land and water pollution thereby causing adverse impact on human health and environment. She said that everyone of us must realize their duty towards the society and use eco-friendly material.
