Punjab Food Commission Chairman inspects Mid-Day Meal and Anganwari
Punjab Food Commission Chairman Bal Mukand Sharma on Saturday inspected mid-day meals in PAU’s Government Elementary school and Anganwadi centre in village Jangwal.
Ludhiana October 5, 2024: Punjab Food Commission Chairman Bal Mukand Sharma on Saturday inspected mid-day meals in PAU’s Government Elementary school and Anganwadi centre in village Jangwal.
Sharma, took stock of the cleanliness, storage of grains and other facilities during the checking. He asked the authorities to maintain proper hygiene at Mid-day meal kitchens. He also stated that winter’s vegetables leaves must be boiled in water and cooks should serve the water of Carrot, reddish and turnip leaves to students which will provide good nutrition without adding any cost to authorities. He also advised the teachers to promote and learn kitchen gardening among the people.
The Chairman also stressed upon the regular testing of mid-day meal and asked to maintain a food test register in schools, provide quality food to children and maintain cleanliness while preparing meals. The drinking water quality in schools must also be ensured. He also directed that health check-up of students and medical check-up of mid-day meal workers in schools be conducted every six months. He also asked the officials to ensure fresh vegetables/fruits to the students during mid-day meals.
