PUNJAB GOVERNMENT’S Directive to ensure proper respect to Indian National Flag

Chandigarh, February 18, 2013: The Punjab Government has directed the Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and SDMs of the state to ensure proper implementation of the provisions contained in the Flag Code of India 2002 and Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the government said that strict action would be taken against the concerned officials and individuals/organizations for any violation of the provisions contained in the said Act and the Flag Code of India.  Adding further he said that the punishment would be of three years of imprisonment, a fine or both.
