Chandigarh, July 11, 2013: Punjab Government has launched a campaign to generate awareness amongst people and save them from Cancer in the state. Punjab government is working on to eradicate cancer from its roots. Divulging this here today Madan Mohan Mittal Minister for Health and Family Welfare Punjab said that Punjab Government is establishing a International level Cancer Hospital in collaboration with Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai at Mulanpur Near Chandigarh and Punjab Government has released Rs 60 Crores to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences up a cancer treatment centre.

Minister said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal recently visited Tata Memorial Centre and asked their staff to provide training to doctors and Paramedical staff of Punjab regarding treatment of Cancer. He said that TMC is starting 6 Months training oncology training programme in colleges and hospitals of Punjab.

Mittal said that state government would provide man power i.e Doctors, Nurses and other supporting staff to TMC at Patiala, Amritsar, Faridkot and Bathinda to treat cancer patients in the state especially the poor.After the successful completion of training by the TMC the trained doctors and other staff would be posted in Oncology departments of the state run hospitals.

He said that awareness and detecting cancer patients campaign run by the state government has entered second phase in this phase 80 thousand cases would be checked free and referral cards would be issued to the cancer patients for hassle free treatment.
