Punjab government committed to boost industries in state: Vini Mahajan
Secured investments worth Rs 65000 crore in last three years
Ferozepur: Punjab Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan on Friday said that the the state government was making all out efforts to further encourage industrialisation and investments worth Rs 65000 crore had been firmed up by the State during last three years, which would further strengthen the economy of Punjab.
While interacting with media persons here, the Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan pointed out that Punjab Government was extending requisite incentives and subsidies to industries for setting up their units in the state, which had received massive response from the industry. The State Government is also encouraging the industrial houses to come up with their ventures especially in Border areas, which would pave a way for holistic development and economic growth in the border belt.
In order to strengthen the healthcare facilities and infrastructure in Punjab, the Chief Secretary said that the State Government had almost completed the recruitment process of 500 doctors and other staff in Health Department and they would be appointed soon after handing over appointment letters to them in coming days.
Referring to power generation crisis due to halting of trains amid farmers agitation, the Chief Secretary pointed out that the issue had been taken up with the Railways Minister. She also asserted that the State Government was fully committed to accomplish all the development works within stipulated time frame, operational of which were stopped in view of COVID-19.
Earlier, the Chief Secretary held a meeting with the Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners to review the status of ongoing works. She took stock of various administrative works being done in the districts of Ferozepur Division besides reviewing the drive against stubble burning and directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that the drive should be implemented at grassroots level.
Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included ACS VK Janjua, Principal Secretaries Anurag Verma, DK Tiwari, Divisional Commissioner Sumer Singh Gurjar, DIG Hardyal Singh Mann, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Gurpal Singh Chahal, DC Muktsar MK Arvind’s Kumar, DC Fazilka Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu and DC Moga Sandeep Hans.
