Punjab Government Delegation Visits CICU to Address Industry Issues

Ludhiana, March 25, 2025: In a significant move to strengthen ties with the industrial sector and address pressing issues, a high-level delegation from the Punjab Government visited the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) today. The visit underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for industrial growth and development in Punjab.

The delegation was welcomed by Upkar Singh Ahuja, President of CICU, along with the Honey Sethi General Secretary of CICU, Dr. S.B. Singh Joint Secretary of CICU and Sarvjit Singh Co-Convenor of CICU Export Committee. The meeting witnessed active participation from industry leaders who raised key concerns affecting the sector. Issues such as delays in policy implementation, high electricity tariffs, inadequate infrastructure, cumbersome regulatory processes, and challenges related to exports were discussed in detail.

Addressing the gathering, Upkar Singh Ahuja emphasized, “The industrial sector is the backbone of Punjab’s economy. We are grateful for the proactive approach taken by the Punjab Government in engaging directly with industry representatives. CICU remains committed to being a bridge between the government and industry, ensuring that the concerns of our members are heard and resolved efficiently.”

Members of the CICU steering committee also highlighted sector-specific issues on various platforms. They advocated for the introduction of industry-friendly policies, modernization of infrastructure, and better access to global markets. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a thriving industrial ecosystem in Punjab.

The government delegation, led by senior officials Shilpi Sharma, assured the industry stakeholders that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government is serious about resolving their issues. “Our government understands the critical role of industries in driving economic growth and creating employment. We are actively working to streamline processes and implement sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by the sector,” said a spokesperson for the delegation.
