Punjab Government has transformed government schools: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond

Khanna (Ludhiana), April 15, 2025: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Tuesday stated that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has completely transformed government schools, while previous regimes ignored the education sector.

Sond inaugurated development projects worth Rs 34.50 lakh under the Punjab Sikhya Kranti program at four schools. At Government Senior Secondary School in Beeja, a library was constructed for Rs 9.65 lakh, a boundary wall was built for Rs 3 lakh, and children's bathrooms were constructed at a cost of Rs 1.40 lakh. Government High School in Bhumaddi received a science lab valued at Rs 11 lakh. Government Primary School in Faizgarh had a classroom built for Rs 6.26 lakh, along with a projector panel and desks for Rs 1.25 lakh. Lastly, at Government Primary School in Kamma, a boundary wall was constructed for Rs 1.44 lakh, and Rs 50,000 was allocated for children's bathrooms.

Sond emphasized that the Punjab government, under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann's leadership, is fully committed to raising the standard of education. He noted that despite 75 years since India’s independence, the condition of government schools has been deteriorating. No previous government had taken significant steps to improve these "temples of education," where children shape their futures. But CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has accorded top priority to education and healthcare.

Drawing inspiration from Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Sond highlighted that Dr. Ambedkar rose from a poor family, studied while sitting on a mat outside the classroom, worked diligently, pursued education abroad, became a lawyer, served as a government official, Law Minister and later became the architect of India’s Constitution.
