Punjab government releases grant worth Rs 31.92 crore for private aided colleges
Chandigarh, December 15, 2014: In a move aimed at imparting quality Higher Education to the students, the Punjab Government today released a grant of Rs 31.92 crore for the 92 Private Aided Colleges of the state.
Divulging the details, the Higher Education Minister of Punjab Surjit Singh Rakhra said that a decision to this effect was taken by the government here today. He said that the grant worth Rs 31.92 crore has been issued to the colleges for the second quarter of fiscal year 2013-14. Rakhra said that imparting quality education to the students was the top priority of the state government and no stone would be left unturned for this cause.
Listing the all out efforts made by the state government, Rakhra said that under the visionary and farsighted leadership of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab has today emerged as frontrunner state in the field of Education. He said that apart from focusing on opening new colleges across the state emphasis was also being laid for upgrading the existing infra structure in the Colleges in every nook and corner of Punjab. Likewise, he said that new courses were being offered to the students in the colleges so as to enable them to compete with their peers across the globe.
