Chandigarh: To ensure safety and well-being of frontline journalists during Covid19 pandemic, the Punjab Government on Thursday urged the media fraternity to strictly follow all health protocols and guidelines issued by health authorities from time to time in the larger interest of the state.
Journalsitic duties especially the on-field reportage in these unprecedented times is most challenging entailing great personal health risk and thus requires stringent adherence to social distancing norms and other health precautions like wearing mask, ensuring distant recording and distant seating during interviews, said spokesperson of the State Control Room constituted for Covid19.
Our media fraternity, as always, is at the forefront in the war against Covid19 and their overwhelming contribution in ensuring the flow of information is commendable.
Regular hand washing and covering of face while coughing or sneezing besides eating well-cooked home food should be prioritised to avoid any infection, the spokesperson further said.
Sanitizing the workstation including laptops, desktops, machines and surfaces with disinfectants twice a day remains integral and must get paramount importance also be ensured.
Reiterating the state government commitment to overall welfare of journalists, he said the critical role played by media in these difficult times has set yet another benchmark for others to follow.
