PUNJAB GOVERNOR greets people on Holi and Holla Mohalla

Chandigarh, March 26, 2013: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shivraj V. Patil extended warm greetings to the people of Punjab and Chandigarh on the eve of Holi and Holla Mohalla.

In his message, Patil said the festival of Holi symbolysis the victory of good over evil. He said that this festival marks the advent of spring and also brings together all people, in its spirit of mutual love and harmony, forgetting all distinctions of caste, creed and religion.

Patil said that this day has also an outstanding significance in the annals of sikh history as, based on this festival, the Holla Mohalla is also celebrated at Sri Ananadpur Sahib, the birth place of Khalsa, with great pomp and show, with the participation of lakhs of people, from all walks of life.

The Governor appealed to the people to celebrate these festivals of Holi and Holla Mohalla in a true spirit of amity, mutual love, good will and brotherhood.
