Punjab Governor lauds PAU’s contribution to nation’s food kitty
The Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Banwarilal Purohit visited the PAU today to interact with the senior officials and review the ongoing agricultural research
Ludhiana, December 16, 2021: The Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Banwarilal Purohit visited the PAU today to interact with the senior officials and review the ongoing agricultural research. He lauded PAU for making the country self-sufficient in food grain production. When India was facing the problem of hunger and starvation, it was PAU and Punjab farmers who made the nation food secure, he added.
On the occasion, an exhibition was organised by various departments of PAU. The Governor evinced interest in Rabi crops, protected cultivation, fruit and vegetable cultivation, seed production, organic farming, agricultural biotechnology, farm machinery, beekeeping, mushroom growing, farm literature and skill development programmes. Expressing satisfaction over the programmes underway at PAU, Sh Banwarilal Purohit stated that the PAU scientists would be successful in bringing in second Green Revolution.
The Director of Research Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, while welcoming the Governor, apprised him of the research, extension and academic programmes of PAU.
Dr Jaskarn Singh Mahal, Director of Extension Education, proposed a vote of thanks.
Among those present were Dr Ashok Kumar, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering; Dr GS Manes, Additional Director of Research (Farm Mechanization); Dr GPS Sodhi, Additional Director of Extension Education; and Dr Tejinder Singh Riar, Additional Director Communication.
