Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore chaired LPU’s award ceremony for teachers

Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized an annual award ceremony for the 3rd edition of Transforming Education Awards (TEA) and 1st Study Grants distribution at its Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, where Hon’ble Governor (Punjab) Shri VP Singh Badnore made a virtual address and bestowed awards to 667 awardee Principals, Teachers, Schools and Meritorious Students selected from across the country. Based on unique and novel idea, the event saw a direct or indirect participation of more than 5 lakh students, teachers, and parents from across India.

Feeling that the event has ignited the true spirit of “Guru – Shishya Parampara”,  Governor Badnore highlighted that “here a ‘Shishya’ went beyond his capacity to give Guru Dakshina by letting the world know about the transformation made by “Guru” in his or her life. The values of Indian Education system which got submerged in this fast changing world came to the fore with this event”. He also shared that the way students have recognised the contribution of their teachers; it shows the most affectionate relation between teachers and their students.

Mentioning teaching profession as selfless service, Governor Badnore further shared that “a good teacher acts as building block of a strong nation by helping children to become good citizens. It is a profession which has proved its worth of being “a profession which teaches all other professions”. He emphasized that “during current time of COVID-19 pandemic, teachers had to put lot of extra efforts in getting acquainted with the new way of teaching, and also to keep the students’ motivation and aspirations high. It is because of the dedication of the teaching fraternity that we have been able to navigate during this time of pandemic with the same quality education to young talents of our proud country.”

Referring to the event as an impressive social responsibility initiative, the Hon'ble Governor congratulated LPU Management for providing a unique opportunity to the country's students for thanking their hard working teachers. Hon’ble Governor shared that the way LPU is moving forward, fulfilling its social responsibilities with the likes of ‘Transforming Education Awards’, is the right way to move forward for any higher education institution.

The awardees had reached LPU Campus from across India to attend the ceremony, where it was held under strict observance of social distancing and other related government-issued directives. More than 2.5 crore rupees were awarded to 412 inspiring principals, teachers & students of 107 Schools, and 255 meritorious students selected from across the country.

Welcoming and addressing the congregation of intellectuals, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal expressed his happiness on the overwhelming response received for the awards’ event. Mr Mittal shared that the awards are to further motivate and encourage more teachers of the country for betterment of education in the country. Also present on the occasion were LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal; Executive Deans Dr Lovi Raj Gupta, Dr Sanjay Modi; Senior Dean Dr Monica Gulati; HD Admissions Dr Rajeev Sobti; and, Jury Member for Awards Mr Vikram Puri, Head Agro Tech Advisory- Farm Division, Mahindra & Mahindra.
LPU’s "Transforming Education Awards" are to acknowledge the dedicated efforts of those educational centres and their teachers, where students provide credit to the concerned centres and teachers for doing their best by transforming education in the classrooms. The focus of the annual 'LPUNEST Study Grant’ is to establish LPU’s commitment towards rewarding deserving and meritorious students of the country. /(Nov 7)
