Chandigarh, December 31, 2012: The Punjab Government has decided to observe the New Year Day as a day of rededication to the honor and dignity of women.

In a statement here, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said that in deference and homage to the memory of the ‘India brave heart’, there would be no celebrations at the government level.

The Chief Minister would himself observe the day in solemn dedication to the cause which the Delhi girl has come to symbolise.

In a message to the people, the Chief Minister said that this was an hour for introspection for everyone in the society as to what extent we have followed the teachings of the Gurus who urged us to accord a place of the highest honor to women.

Badal prayed to the Almighty, “The New Year may see us closer to a society in which, women, children and senior citizens may enjoy a life of complete honor, security and dignity.”

The Chief Minister wished the people “all success in living upto the noble ideal set before us by our great Gurus, saint and seers.”
