Punjab govt will recruit 20,000 teachers: Pargat Singh
Cabinet Minister urges NRIs to donate money for the development of government schools
Ferozepur, November 3, 2021: During his visit to Zira today Cabinet Minister Pargat Singh said soon the state government will recruit 20,000 teachers for the government schools. He also ensured that the government will appoint teachers for special subjects so that the poor and needy students don’t have to go for the tuitions. He also urged the NRIs to donate money to Village Panchayats for the development of government schools.
Pargat Singh was here for the inauguration of various development works worth Rs.1.25 crores. He inaugurated a conference hall constructed at the cost of Rs.5 lakhs, a new lab (Rs.14 lakhs) besides a gymnasium hall, boxing ring, library, classrooms, volleyball ground, badminton hall court, smart classrooms etc.
While addressing the media persons, the minister said that the state government is determined to provide world class education infrastructure even at the remote areas.
He also announced to provide Rs.10 lakh for improvement of sports infrastructure following the request made by Zira MLA Kulbir Singh. He also assured to start a period for the training of heritage sports Gatka in every government school in the state.

Padmasree Sr. Pargat Singh, Cabinet Minister, inaugurated Infrastructure Facilities At Shaheed Gurdas Ram Memorial Government Girls Sr. Sec. Smart School Zira of Rs. 1 Crore 25 Lakh. On arrival at the school, he was first given a guard of honor by the Punjab Police contingent.
On this occasion, Sh. Kulbir Singh Zira(MLA Zira), Sh. Davinder Singh ,Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur were specially present.
Earlier, Cabinet Minister Padmasree Pargat Singh inaugurated renovated conference hall of cost Rs. 5 lakhs, a newly constructed lab at a cost of Rs. 14 lakhs, a renovated gymnasium hall of worth Rs 7 lakhs, Boxing ring at a cost of 5 lakhs, library constructed at a cost of Rs 15 lakh, 6 rooms constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh, volleyball ground constructed at a cost of Rs 2.7 lakh, badminton court constructed at a cost of Rs 1.25 lakh, smart classrooms constructed at a cost of Rs 30.4 lakh . He formally inaugurated the upgraded infrastructure of total cost of 1 crore 25 lakhs.
Addressing the function, Cabinet Minister Pargat Singh said that there was no other government school like this in the state. He further said that to make students aware of time, they need to work hard along with the school infrastructure which we can efficiently provide them. He said that most of the attention needs to be paid to primary education during which the children develop mentally and physically. Therefore, while 18 to 20 thousand new teachers will be recruited, a plan is also being drawn up to recruit the required teachers for teaching various subjects. He said that NRIs could make a significant contribution to the school education infrastructure so all the NRIs should cooperate to improve the infrastructure of their village schools so that school education could be made better. Cultural programs were also presented by the students of the school.
Meanwhile, at the request of MLA Kulbir Zira, it was also announced to provide Rs. 5 lakhs to improve the school road, another 5 lakhs for cycle stand, construction of 8 rooms and upgradation of school ground as per estimate. Meanwhile, at the request of the MLA, the Minister also assured to start a period for the training of heritage sports Gatka in every government school in the state.
After this he honored the students and teachers of the school who have achieved excellence in various fields. At the end, the school management also presented a memento to the chief guest Padmasri Pargat Singh. Present on the occasion were DEO Rajiv Chhabra, Deputy DEO Kamal Arora, Deputy DEO Sukhwinder Singh, Former DEO Kulwinder Kaur, Principal Rakesh Sharma, Media Coordinator Balkar Gill, Retired IAS Ashok Gupta, Sr. Parvinder Singh Dhindsa, Sarbadial Singh, Chairman Mahinderjit Singh, Kulbir Singh Timmy, Darshan Singh and Chairperson Sarabjeet kaur. All the teachers and students of the school were also present at the occassion.
