Punjab industry worried with new govt notification

 Badish K. Jindal

Ludhiana, July 27, 2012: Once again to harass the industry of Punjab the Department of Excise and Taxation has issued a new notification under Section 51 according to that all the dealers in Punjab will have to furnish online data of the goods to be delivered even interstate.

As per this notification from 10th August 2012, information regarding intra-state movement of goods (within Punjab) shall require be furnished by all persons making sales of Rs. 3 lakh or above in a single transaction except in the case of Iron and Steel where this threshold shall be Rs. 2 lakh instead of Rs. 3 lakh and above.

This notification is uncalled for and when industry is increasing the revenue year on year basis such a notification will create conflicts among industries and department.

Only 35% of the units have the facility of computer at their premises, only 20%  are having internet facility and just 10% have full time accountants to operate such systems, under such circumstances it would be too difficult for the industries to comply with such norms.

We all aware of the worst quality of internet in Punjab and under such circumstances the deliveries of the materials must surely be delayed, which is going to slowdown the economy of Punjab.

Such notification was issued by the department earlier also but under the pressure of the industry the department was forced to cancel that.

We request the State Government that such notification must immediately be quashed failing which the Industry will force to close down and protest.
