Punjab Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu to unfurl national tricolour on 75th Independence Day at Ludhiana
Full-day rehearsal would be held on august 13 at Guru Nanak Stadium
Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Tuesday said that due to Covid-19 pandemic, the District level celebrations on 75th Independence Day would be held with strict adherence to the safety protocols especially masking and social distancing norms at local Guru Nanak Stadium.
Taking stock of preparations at the venue, Deputy Commissioner along with Joint Commissioner of Police J Elanchezhian, said that Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu would unfurl national tricolour on 75th Independence Day at Ludhiana.
He further said that Independence Day celebrations is the most important event for all of us as on this day our country attained freedom from the yoke of British imperialism on this day.
The Deputy Commissioner said that officers of the district administration have been assigned various duties for the smooth conduct of this event on Independence Day.
Referring to the state government’s guidelines amid anticipated third wave of the COVID-19, he added that there would be no massive gathering during the event as it used to be in previous years and the contingent of Punjab Police would give salute. He also said that so far there would be no other activities like PT shows, parades etc in order to maintain the safety guidelines.
Sharma said that health & safety protocols including social distancing, wearing masks, hand sanitizing, disinfecting the premises would be accorded top priorities. He also inspected the stadium and gave necessary directions to the security personnel and civil staff regarding the arrangements to be made for the Independence Day celebrations
He said that full-day rehearsal would be held on August 13.
On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal, ADC (G) Rahul Chaba, SDM Dr Vaneet Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Parleen Kaur Kaleka and others were present.
