Chandigarh, November 8, 2013: The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today urged the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh seeking his personal intervention for the constitution of Popular Board in place of Administrator/Administrator Board at Takht Sri Hazur Sahib (Nanded) in accordance with Section 6 of the Nanded Sikh Gurdwara Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Act, 1956 for managing the day-to-day affairs of this historic shrine associated with the Tenth Guru of Sikhs Sri Guru Gobind Singh.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Badal impressed upon Dr. Singh to immediately take up this matter of immense religious significance for the Sikh community, with the Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI thereby asking the Maharashtra Government to immediately initiate an action for the constitution of Popular Board, as the Bombay High Court had already directed the Maharashtra government to initiate action in this regard within two months from the date of its decision.   He requested the Prime Minister to resolve this emotive issue at the earliest without any further delay besides safeguarding the interests of Sikh community in Maharashtra on the other.
It may be recalled that the rival party had filed Special Leave Petition against the decision of Bombay High Court, which has been dismissed by the Supreme Court on October 22, 2013.  The Bombay High Court in its judgment had directed the Maharashtra government to initiate necessary steps to constitute the board in accordance with Section 6 of 1956 Act within the period of two months from the date of its order.
