Punjab Rakhi Bumper adds sweetness in sweets shop owner’s life amid covid
Mandi Kalanwali resident wins first prize of Rs 1.50 crore
Chandigarh: Punjab State Rakhi Bumper-2020 added sweetness in the life of Dharam Pal, a sweets shop owner from Mandi Kalanwali (Sirsa). This year's festival of Rakhi was low-key affairs for him due to COVID-19 pandemic but Punjab Government's Rakhi Bumper turned him crorepati overnight.
After submitting the documents to Punjab State Lotteries Department officials for the encashment of prize, Dharam Pal said that he had been buying Punjab State lottery tickets for the last 13 years but he has won the prize first time. Notably, the Rakhi Bumper draw was held on August 20, 2020. Dharam Pal was informed by the Lotteries Department on August 21 that he has won the 1st prize of Rs 1.50 crore on ticket no B-315094.
Father of a daughter and two sons, Dharam Pal said that his eldest son is married and his daughter and younger son are studying. He said that this hefty amount would be a great help to provide the best higher education to his children, besides expanding his sweets business.
Feeling extremely happy, he said that he had never thought in his wildest dreams that he would win such a big prize in his life. It’s like a dream come true for him. Dharam Pal also lauded the cooperative and helping nature of the Punjab Lotteries Department officials, while expressing full faith in the transparent method of the draw. Officials of the department assured the lucky winner to transfer the prize money to his account at the earliest.
