Punjab Science Congress collaborates with KMV to celebrate National Science Day
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated Science Day with enthusiasm. The celebrations were organised by Faculty of Sciences in collaboration with Punjab Academy of Sciences.

Jalandhar, February 28, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated Science Day with enthusiasm. The celebrations were organised by Faculty of Sciences in collaboration with Punjab Academy of Sciences.
The event was aimed at commemorating the contributions of Dr. C.V. Raman to the field of science. The event was graced by Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, along with distinguished guests, including Dr. N. R. Dhamiwal, Secretary of the Punjab Academy of Sciences; Dr. M.C. Sidhu, Professor, Department of Botany, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. A.S. Ahluwalia, Professor (Rtd.) Department of Botany, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Dr. NiranjanSingh, Executive Member, Punjab Academy of Sciences who inaugurated the program with great enthusiasm and insight. The event was marked by a diverse range of activities, including a poster-making contest, reel-making competition, quiz competition, and two engaging lectures. Each of these activities allowed students to explore the world of science in fun, creative, and informative ways. The event started with a poster-making contest where students were encouraged to illustrate their vision for the future of science under the theme "Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for VIKSIT Bharat." Participants crafted visually appealing posters showcasing revolutionary scientific ideas and cutting-edge technologies. In a contemporary twist, the reel-making activity invited participants to create short, informative reels on a scientific topic of their choice. The use of digital media allowed students to explore creative ways to communicate science topics covered ranged from fun experiments to environmental sustainability. The Science Quiz was the highlight of the day, testing participants’ knowledge across a wide spectrum of scientific fields, including physics, chemistry, biology. The quiz comprised multiple rounds with questions growing progressively harder. Prof. A.S. Ahluwalia, delivered an enlightening lecture on the pressing issue of "Biodiversity: Threats and Conservation Concerns." With his vast experience in environmental science and conservation, he provided an in-depth overview of the current state of global biodiversity, the significant threats it faces, and necessary steps for conservation. The lecture captivated students, faculty, and guests alike, raising awareness on the importance of preserving biodiversity for future generations. Prof. Ahluwalia concluded his lecture by restating the urgent need for concerted efforts to conserve biodiversity. Prof. M.C. Sidhu, an esteemed expert in plant sciences, who delivered an enlightening and engaging lecture on "Interesting Facts About Plants." The session was aimed to captivate the audience by revealing some of the most fascinating and lesser-known aspects of the plant world, shedding light on the extraordinary roles of plants play in our ecosystems and daily lives. Prof. Sidhu's lecture covered several exciting and surprising facts about plants, aiming to broaden the audience’s perspective on these vital organisms that often go unnoticed.
Principal lauded the efforts of whole faculty of sciences and students in organising such events which served as a testament to their passion for learning and exploration.
