Ferozepur, March 19, 2013: Taking no notice of the memorandums submitted, agitations held and notices issued, the Punjab State District DC Offices Employees Union have decided to proceed on pen down strike from March 20- 31, to register their protest for acceptance of their genuine demands.

Giving this information, Sukhraj Singh Sandhu, President and Gurnam Singh Virk General Secretary from Ferozepur said, a demand charter of the employees of Deputy Commissioners of the Punjab State to the Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Punjab,  was submitted, who have accepted our few demands. Out of which, one demand regarding the delegation of powers to the DCs in the case of promotions of Senior Assistants has been implemented and remaining demands are still under process either with the Finance Department or with the Administrative Department.

They said, although the promotions of Superintendents have been made by the Divisional Commissioners in few cases, but the directions of the learned FCR, Punjab are not being complied with by Commissioner,  Patiala, Ferozepur and Faridkot Divisions.  Similarly, the promotion cases of DRAs/Senior Assistant as Naib Tehsildars are not being finalised at the level of government and the proposals of Revenue Department, Punjab submitted to the Finance Department, Punjab have also not been accepted and  the matter is being delayed un-necessarily.

They further said, the whole position was explained in the notices to the Government of Punjab and in view of non-acceptance of our demands, the employees have been compelled to resort the Pen Down Strikes and chalk out the programme.

The union leaders said, they are not fighting only for the welfare of  employees only but for the welfare and interest of the people to provide the services quickly and as per the provisions of new Acts, which will be possible if the adequate staff is provided by the Government in the offices of DCs/SDMs and Tehsil offices.

They added, to register their protest before the government, they will be proceeding on pen down strike from March 20 to 31.
