Punjab ushers new revolution by giving 36,097 government jobs to youth in first 18 months: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday said the state government has so far given 36,097 government jobs to youth of the state in the first 18 months of its tenure thereby setting a record by ensuring that nearly 2000 youth join government service every month.

Chandigarh, September 12, 2023: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday said the state government has so far given 36,097 government jobs to youth of the state in the first 18 months of its tenure thereby setting a record by ensuring that nearly 2000 youth join government service every month. 
 
Addressing the gathering in a function to hand over the recruitment letter to 249 youth for 191 posts in Local Government Department, 25 in Animal Husbandry, 24 in Cooperation and nine in Technical Education department here at the Municipal Bhawan, the Chief Minister said that the youth should feel proud as they are becoming a team of the state government which is working untiringly for carving out a new Punjab. He said that the state government has been conducting this recruitment drive completely on merit basis and jobs are being given only to deserving and needy candidates. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that neither any recommendation nor any other tantrum except merit is working in this recruitment drive.
 
The Chief Minister said that this venue has witnessed a number of such events in which youth have got jobs in various government departments. He said that this reflects the commitment of the state government to ensure the well being of youth and opening new avenues of employment for them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him that all the youth have been selected for these posts purely on the basis of merit.
 
The Chief Minister said that the state government has hitherto provided more than 36,097 jobs to the youth in various departments of the Punjab government. He said that it is a record as none of the previous governments have given so many jobs to youth especially in the initial months of its tenure. Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated that merit and transparency have been the twin pillars based on which jobs have been given to the youth across the state.
 
The Chief Minister said that the trend of moving abroad developed in the state due to the poor performance of the previous ‘Captains’ of the state. He said that these leaders never bothered to give jobs to the youth of the state owing to which the new generation preferred to migrate to other lands. However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that his government has checked this negative trend by ensuring reverse brain drain and creating numerous job opportunities for the youth.
 
The Chief Minister quipped that a former Finance Minister of state chanted rhetoric of ‘empty state exchequer’ for nine long years thereby demoralizing the youth of Punjab. However, he said that now the state government is providing jobs to youth of Punjab on every passing day due to which younger generations are becoming active partners in socio-economic development of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this massive campaign will be further carried in the coming days to empower more and more youth.   
 
The Chief Minister said that as runways at the airports facilitate an Airplane for its smooth take off in the same manner the state government is helping the youth to realize their dreams. He asserted that every effort is being made to give wings to the ideas of youth and no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Singh Mann made a fervent appeal to youth to make all out efforts for carving an identity of their own to make a place in society adding that sky's the limit for them.
 
The Chief Minister also said that the state government is opening eight hi-tech centres for imparting training to the students for competitive exams. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these centres will provide quality training to youth for clearing the UPSC exams and sit on coveted positions in state and country. He said that the target of the state government is to ensure that youth sit in high offices and serve the country.
 
The Chief Minister said that now these youth have become integral part of the government adding that now should serve the people with missionary zeal. Bhagwant Singh Mann hoped that the new recruits will use their pen for helping the needy and underprivileged sections of society. He said that the newly recruited youth should ensure maximum welfare of the public so that every section of society is benefited from it.
 
The Chief Minister said that ushering in an era of revolution in the state the Punjab government is all set to launch Schools of Eminence in the state on Wednesday. He said that the first such hi-tech school set up in the state will be dedicated to people on September 13. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this state of the art school will act as a catalyst in providing quality education to the students. 
 
The Chief Minister said that as good coaches produce excellent players similarly an updated teacher helps in grooming able students for the coming future due to which special focus is being for ensuring that teachers are sent for training in abroad and other places. He said that delegations of Principals/ Teachers have been sent to get training at Singapore, Ahmedabad and others for upscaling of their expertise. Bhagwant Mann said that the single motive is to ensure that students of the government schools in the state get quality education so that they can compete with their convent educated peers across the globe.
 
Likewise, the Chief Minister said that in order to provide best healthcare facilities to the people the state government has opened 664 Aam Aadmi Clinics across the state. He said that these clinics have revolutionized the health care sector in the state as more than 95% of patients visiting these clinics daily recover from their ailments. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Aam Aadmi Clinics clinics are acting as a cornerstone in the revamping of the healthcare system in Punjab as more than 50 lakh patients have been provided the facility of free medicines, diagnoses and clinical tests.
 
On the occasion Cabinet Ministers Balkar Singh and Gurmeet Singh Khudian along with others were also present on the occasion.
