Punjab Youth Development Board and SBI organise marathon
5-km run against drug abuse flagged off from Guru Nanak Stadium
Ludhiana: In view of checking the problem of drugs in the society, the State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab Youth Development Board has taken the initiative where they would sensitise the younger generation about the drug menace. A 5 kilometre run against drug abuse was flagged off from Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana today. This run was flagged off by Mr Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Chairman, Punjab Youth Development Board, Mr Rajeev Kumar Arora, General Manager SBI, LHO Chandigarh and Mr Pranay Ranjan Dwivedi, Deputy General Manager, Ludhiana.
ADCP Mr Deepak Pareek, CO ITBP Ludhiana Mr Sudesh Kumar Drall, Mrs Gurpreet Kaur RM SBI Region-I Ludhiana and Mr Rajinder Kaushal RM SBI Region-II Ludhiana were also present on the occasion.
The marathon passed through the Fountain Chowk, Aarti Chowk, Bhai Wala Chowk, Bharat Nagar Chowk and culminated in Guru Nanak Stadium. Mr Rajeev Arora, General Manager SBI, while addressing the participants motivated and appealed the youth to remain away from the drug abuse. At the same time, Regional Manager of SBI, Ludhiana Region-I, Mrs Gurpreet Kaur, extended vote of thanks to the Police Authorities, District Administration and all the participants for their active support to raise awareness against drug abuse and making the event a grand success.
Mr Sukhwinder Singh Bindra said that the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is committed for the welfare of the youth of state and that is why, several welfare schemes such as Ghar Ghar Rozgar etc have been started for them. He said that the youth that work in promoting welfare schemes of state government would be honoured with appreciation letters.
