Chandigarh, September 13, 2015: Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) demanded high level enquiry from the Punjab Government to investigate on the rumors spread regarding the approval status of Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University (MRSSTU), Bathinda.

Dr. J.S Dhaliwal, President, PUTIA said that Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar has circulated the notification in which it has been clearly mentioned that 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students of Engineering and other branches will remain under PTU. But some miscreants tempered the letter which was circulated among the students of Punjab.

He further said that various other fake messages and rumors created havoc in Punjab which later on worsens the situation in the colleges. Lot of damage was done in RIMT, Mandi Gobindgarh; SVIET, Banur; Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Ferozpur and many other colleges.

Dr. Anshu Kataria, Vice President, PUTIA demanded that the case should be immediately referred to cyber crime branch and it should be investigated from where these fake letters and messages were originated.

Kataria further said that still lot of rumors and fake news is being circulated to create doubts in the mind of students who have come from far places like Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, North East, Nepal etc.

It is to be mentioned that last week hundreds of students from Punjab went back to their home town demanding degrees of Punjab Technical University rather than MRSSTU. They came to Punjab as all the Colleges were affiliated with PTU but on 30th June, Government issued a notification and transfers the affiliation of around 100 Colleges in MRSSTU. Students were upset from August from the beginning of the classes when fake news regarding approval process and violence took place at many places.
