Panjab University Yuvamanthan Model United Nations (PUYMUN) Conference commenced today with grandeur and enthusiasm. More than 150 student delegates across various colleges and department of Panjab University are participating in thisthree-day event.

Chandigarh November 8, 2023: Panjab University Yuvamanthan Model United Nations (PUYMUN) Conference commenced today with grandeur and enthusiasm. More than 150 student delegates across various colleges and department of Panjab University are participating in thisthree-day event.

The Welcome Address was delivered by the Coordinator of Yuvamanthan MUN Conference, Prof. Meena Sharma, who set the tone for the day by emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in today's global context. She emphasized that such types of conferences gives opportunity to the youth to enhance their diplomatic and problem solving skills which are essential for playing a pivotal role in achieving the goal of the Bharat 2047 mission.

Chief Guest for the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, Prof. Renu Vig, addressed the audience, mentioning the importance of industrial revolution 4.0 and stated that bookish knowledge is not the only objective. She stressed the significance of such events in nurturing young minds and promoting international understanding. She envisioned that PUYMUN will provide an impetus to socio-economic characteristics through innovations in the society and such types of discussion will foster a greater understanding of the complex challenges and the collective expertise of the participants can contribute to finding solutions to the global issues. She also discussedthat how the various technological advancements such as generative AI tools, use of drones and robots in wars and medical fields, data analysis by sensors and analysis by machine learning have revolutionized the world.

A notable highlight of the event was the address by the Guest of Honor, Ketan Bansal, IPS. He emphasized that youth should be equipped with technological environment that should be used for the welfare of the society. Cyber criminals are using various ways to con the general public and as responsible citizens we need to be cognizant of the technology around us. His inspiring words on the role of youth in creating a positive impact on society and the world resonated with the audience.

 

Professor Yajvender Pal Verma, the Registrar of Panjab University, took the stage to provide insights into the university's commitment to fostering academic excellence and global perspectives. He stated that youth of India should rise with the advancement of technology. He stated that as a young nation India will soon become a developed nation for that youth will have to advance along with advancement of the technology.

 

The Vote of thanks was given by Tulika Singh, expressing gratitude to all the guests, attendees, participants, and supporters. The three-day event has three committees namely, UNESCO, ECOSOC, and AIPPM. PUYMUN promises to be a platform for young minds to engage in thoughtful debate, fostering an understanding of global issues, and promoting diplomacy, all within the esteemed grounds of Panjab University.
