PWD Minister lays foundation stone for special repair of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Marg
Leading towards village Sarabha, the ancestral village of legendary freedom fighter Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Public Works Department Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Thursday laid the foundation stone for special repair of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Marg (Pakhowal road) worth Rs 23.18 crore in Lalton village main Chowk in the district. The work on this 22.55-km stretch will be completed in the next nine months.
Lalton (Ludhiana), February 16, 2023: Leading towards village Sarabha, the ancestral village of legendary freedom fighter Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Public Works Department Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Thursday laid the foundation stone for special repair of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Marg (Pakhowal road) worth Rs 23.18 crore in Lalton village main Chowk in the district. The work on this 22.55-km stretch will be completed in the next nine months.
Accompanied by MLAs Jiwan Singh Sangowal, Hakam Singh Thekedar, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, AAP senior leader Dr KNS Kang, the Cabinet Minister said that this stretch was one of the important routes and used by the commuters as bypass to reach Barnala, Bathinda districts and other parts of the country. He said that the Punjab government was led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed to make Punjab a progressive state as it is evident from the developmental projects being effectively carried out in every field.
Listing top-priority to the quality road infrastructure in Punjab, the Minister said that the AAP government had been making strenuous efforts to make the state number one in terms of best road infrastructure.
In his address, Harbhajan Singh ETO also lashed out at previous governments for not reconstruction of the road and said that this road should have been repaired in 2014 and 2019 but no one listened to the long pending demand of the people. He said that several lives were lost in the road mishaps being reported daily on this stretch. He said that the reconstruction of the road will facilitate the commuters in a smooth and hassle free journey and will minimize the mishaps. He also asked the contractual company to ensure use of quality material during the work.
MLA Jiwan Singh Sangowal, Hakam Singh Thekedar and Kulwant Singh Sidhu thanked the Cabinet Minister for initiating the project.
Prominent among the present on the occasion included District Planning Committee head Sharanpal Singh Makkar, AAP district Chief Harbhupinder Singh Dharaur, ADC Jagraon Major Amit Sareen, SDM Gurbir Singh Kohli and others.
