PWD to start repairing cracks on high level bridge on Sutlej
MLA Angad directs executive agency to complete the work by first week of January 2022
Nawanshahr, November 27, 2021: The Public Works Department (B and R) is set to start the repair work of one of portion on high-level bridge at Sutlej River connecting Nawanshahr-Rahon with Machhiwara that recently developed cracks from Sunday (November 28).
Disclosing further details, Nawanshahr MLA Angad Singh said that the Punjab Government has sanctioned a grant of Rs 20 lakh to the executive agency and directed the PWD officials to complete the work by first week of January 2022. He said that a close vigil would be ensured on the functioning of the agency carrying out the work here so that quality cannot be comprised at any cost.
He said that there must be not compromise with the safety of the commuters and agency must take all preventive measures to prevent any mishap.
Meanwhile, Junior Engineer Ramesh Kumar said that the traffic on the bridge would be completely prohibited on the bridge and people must use other route for commuting. He said that the agency would complete the work expeditiously.
